Going into detail, he discusses the birth of the hit “53 Christopher Street” which is the address for Stonewall Inn.  On New Year’s Eve in 2019 he describes the release of this hit, how it came to be, yet has not quite reached its fullest potential because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He talks about how his experience writing the song “Love Elastic” (previewed throughout this interview) which is about understanding true love isn’t possessive, rather, it’s elastic, stretches, and doesn’t break.

With the onset of the pandemic and restrictions on international travel, Van discussed how he was forced to cancel multiple tour dates in 2020 – and has become somewhat reclusive in Canada.

Exploring how the pandemic has impacted his mental health, hooking up, becoming bored with pornography, and the importance of keeping himself busy and mentally engaged in his world.

Regardless if he’s experiencing a musical flop or a global pandemic, what he understands is nothing is permanent – he will be back on the road, touring various parts of the world and eventually performing in venues throughout the world.
